SportCruiser ExperimentalThe factory SportCruiser is built to the ASTM standards and has gained acceptance in the FAA Light-Sport Aircraft category; ready to fly SportCruiser can be registered in other countries accepting LSA. The EAS (Experimental Aviation of Switzerland) accepts the UK LAA (former PFA) approval for scratch build, homebuilt and quick built aircraft. The LAA has accepted the SportCruiser. The LAA Type Acceptance Data Sheet (TADS 338) has been issued 16. June 2008. Most of the modifications and enhancements proposed during the approval process have been inherited into the series production - not just for kits. Some examples of additional British and Swiss requirements were the stainless steel firewall or the collector bowls under the Bing carburetors, the enhanced rollover protection. Both the LAA and the EAS require to meet selected CS-VLA certification specifications, used as a benchmark for approval of any new designs. All documents and results of the two year process are made available to the EAS engineering and certification body for validation. The kits will be 100% complete except for paint when buying all basic modules offered. It is not necessary to purchase all items from SportAviation. You are welcome to acquire your own engine, propeller or instruments, although you may find that we can save you money. The Quick Build Kit comes with the basic structure already manufactured. The level of completeness has been negotiated with the UK LAA, to stay within the 49% prefabrication rules. We will deliver as complete an aircraft as we are allowed. First Swiss customers have opted to do the complete assembly of the elevator at home, or work on the wing assembly for a week direct at the factory. The SportCruiser is available in the Switzerland as a Quick Build Kit to be built under the EAS supervision. The level of pre-fabrication will be consistent with other quick build kits. To allow inspection building quality of the wing and the fuselage, some areas are closed using soft rivets, the builder can easily remove and install the final aircraft grade rivets later. As an alternate solution the EAS inspection can be done right at the factory, then the wings and the fuselage can be fully closed before shipping. Invite your builder advisor to a short trip to the Czech Republic, do the inspection on site and enjoy the stay having some excellent local beers! For builders which can't wait to get their SportCruiser Experimental finished, we offer the Factory Assisted Kit Aircraft Program. Depending on the mission profile for your SportCruiser Experimental, we can offer a selection of predefined cockpit panel layouts - customizeable to your wishes by the factory. |
